A Daruma is a popular doll sold in Japan. It has no limbs, is almost round except for a flat, weighted base, and the whites of the eyes have no pupils. When the Daruma is purchased, the buyer establishes a goal and paints in the left eye. When the goal is realized, the other eye is painted.
